Bovard Administration Building University of Southern CaliforniaLos Angeles, CA
Built in 1929, the historic Bovard Administration Building on USC's campus was a non-reinforced masonry structure that did not meet California's code for seismic standards. Perini Building Company was called upon to completely renovate and seismically retrofit the 70,000 s.f., 3-story plus basement building without changing its appearance. Basically, a building was built within a building without disturbing the external facade. The challenge was met and Bovard Hall's heritage was preserved while simultaneously protecting public safety |
