At 1.5 million square feet, the San Diego Convention Center features more than 100,000 square feet of meeting rooms, a 40,000-square-foot ballroom, 32 truck docks and underground parking for 2,000 vehicles. Exhibition area totals 254,000 square feet, large enough to contain seven football fields. |

Constructed in eight months, this two-level, 1.2 million-square-foot convention center includes 600,000 sqaure feet of exhibition space on the second floor. Roof framing is of structural steel trusses supported on steel columns (60 by 90-foot bays). |

George R. Moscone Convention CenterSan Francisco, CA
Hellmuth Obata & Kassalbaum designed the original 675,000-square-foot Moscone Center. Constructed underground anticipating high-rise development from the roof or ground level up, the Moscone Center contains a 6.3-acre hall with ceiling heights of 37 feet. At the time of its construction, it was the largest poured-in-place concrete building structure built in California. |
