State Correctional Institute at Somerset

Perini led the venture responsible for the creative financing (lease/purchase) of this correctional facility.

Under a design/build method of development and a fast-track construction schedule, the new 1,000-cell medium security correctional facility in Somerset, Pennsylvania consists of 550,000 gross square feet of building area in 15 separate buildings.

The inmate population, with multiple occupancy, is projected to be approximately 1600. Public/private ventures have proven to be effective alternatives to traditional means of financing important public projects.

Federal Correctional Institution & Prison Camp

The Federal Bureau of Prison's Federal Correctional Institution is a complex of 14 buildings located on a 210-acre site.

The complex includes a 500-bed medium security correctional institution, a 250-bed minimum security prison and common support building.

Each of the institutions has accommodations for dining, educational/vocational programs, religious and recreational programs, medical care, commissary, visiting and administration.

CCA Central Arizona Detention Center

Built for the Corrections Corporation of America, the founder of the private corrections industry and the nation's largest provider of jail, detention and corrections services to governmental agencies, the Central Arizona Detention Center was built in five phases. The facility is a 2,304-bed male, multi-level security center.

The facility covers approximately 20 acres of land and totals over 364,665 square feet.  It consists of five buildings containing 1,600 beds for inmate housing, five covered recreation areas as well as open recreation space, housing control, a segregation dayroom, visitation facilities, two libraries, classroom and vocational training sections, administrative offices, medical and dental units equipped with exam rooms and a pharmacy, dining area, a kitchen with adjoining storage, an armory, warehouse space and parking.

South Woods State Prison

Bridgeton, New Jersey

The design/build New Jersey State Prison project is a complex of 17 buildings located on an 85-acre site in Bridgeton, New Jersey. The complex is divided into four distinct housing areas, minimum security, medium security, detention units and extended care, totaling 3,080 beds.

Each independent housing complex consists of four-tier 2-story housing units and two support buildings for food services and recreation. An Industries Building will house major food preparation for delivery to other correctional facilities throughout the State of New Jersey.

Kent County Correctional Facility

Grand Rapids, Michigan

The Kent County Correctional Facility ranks in the top 100 largest jails in the nation. The main jail employs both the linear and podular housing designs to accommodate approximately 1,094 inmates of all security classifications.

The facility is programmed for internal security to consist of a combination of direct and indirect supervision. The podular housing units are designed into two level sections of cells around a dayroom where inmate activities take place.

Hampden County Medium Security Facility

Ludlow, Massachusetts

The Hampden Medium Security Facility, also known as the "Main Institution", is located in Ludlow, Massachusetts. An average inmate count is 1,350 (1,220 men, 130 women). It is composed of seven buildings, three of which are housing towers for pretrial detainees and sentenced inmates.

The facility is divided into 24 living units under a Unit Management/Direct Supervision mode of operation.

So. Nevada Women's Correctional Facility

The Nevada Department of Prisons selected Corrections Corporation of America as the private corrections contractor to design, build, and operate a correctional facility for women in Las Vegas. The Southern Nevada Women’s Correctional Facility, a 579-bed, 141,600-square-foot multi-security prison opened in September 1997. In November 1998 the institution was accredited by the American Correctional Association. On October 1st, 2004, the Nevada Department of Corrections assumed control of the center.
